Rev. Shavon Arline-Bradley, president and CEO of the National Council of Negro Women, will be the featured speaker when the Knightdale-Wake Forest Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. marks 30 years with a Scholarship Gala in Raleigh on Saturday, Dec. 12.
The black-tie evening starts at 7 p.m. at the Wake County Shrine Club, 6015 Lead Mine Road, according to the chapter’s flyer. Tickets are $150 a person, and sales close Nov. 20.
Thirty years in northeastern Wake County
The chapter was founded on May 11, 1996, when “twelve visionary women came together with a shared commitment to bring the mission of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated to the growing communities of Northeast Wake County,” it says on its 30th anniversary page.
It describes itself as “a community-conscious and action-oriented organization that provides service, programs and activities addressing issues in the Knightdale, Wake Forest and surrounding northeastern Wake County communities.” Over three decades, the chapter says, its work has taken in “public service initiatives, youth development programs, scholarships, health and wellness activities, economic empowerment efforts, and advocacy,” and “hundreds of youth and families throughout our service area have benefited.”
The gala will honor that record and the community partners and supporters who have helped keep the chapter going, the chapter said. Its theme, printed on the flyer, is “Honoring Our Legacy: Pearls of Elegance, 30 Years of Delta Distinction.”
“Our 30th anniversary deserves a celebration that honors our history while inspiring us to think boldly about our future,” said Chapter President Sabrina Tucker. “Having Rev. Shavon Arline-Bradley join us is especially meaningful. Her leadership and commitment to empowering communities reflect the principles that have guided our chapter for 30 years. We are excited to share this milestone with the community.”
The speaker
The chapter calls Arline-Bradley “a nationally recognized advocate and compelling voice on women’s leadership, civic engagement and social justice,” whose public addresses have been widely shared on social media. It points to her leadership at the National Council of Negro Women and her earlier work in the Obama administration and at the NAACP as bringing “a distinctive national perspective to this celebration of community impact.”
The chapter recommends a clip the NCNW posted of her speaking at the 2026 National Urban League Conference.
Entertainment
The evening will also feature Rell the Artist, Darnell “Showcase” Taylor Entertainment and Jashaun “JP” Peele, the chapter said.
