Local vendors fill East Wake Magnet High School on Saturday, Dec. 5, for the Delta Sigma Theta chapter's holiday marketplace, with a Red Cross blood drive.
Local vendors and small businesses will set up at East Wake Magnet High School on Saturday, Dec. 5, for the Delta Marketplace, a day of holiday shopping run by the Knightdale-Wake Forest Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. An American Red Cross blood drive runs alongside it.
The marketplace is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the school, which is at 5101 Rolesville Road in Wendell, according to the school’s Wake County Public School System page.
Shopping with local sellers
The chapter says the day will bring together “local entrepreneurs, small businesses, and community members for a day of holiday shopping, fellowship, and community engagement,” with the chance to “discover unique products, shop with local vendors, and support businesses that contribute to the economic vitality of the surrounding communities.”
It describes the marketplace as part of its “ongoing commitment to strengthening community connections and supporting economic development throughout northeastern Wake County.”
“Our Delta Marketplace is about more than holiday shopping. It’s an opportunity to celebrate and support local businesses, strengthen community connections, and make a meaningful difference right here in our community,” said Chapter President Sabrina Tucker. “We are especially excited to bring together shopping, fellowship, and the opportunity to give back through our blood drive. We invite everyone to join us for a day of community, connection, and purpose.”
Giving blood
The American Red Cross blood drive is being held in conjunction with the marketplace, the chapter said. Anyone who wants to donate can book an appointment at redcrossblood.org using the sponsor keyword DSTKnightdaleWF.
The chapter
The Knightdale-Wake Forest Alumnae Chapter was established in 1996. It calls itself “a community-conscious and action-oriented organization committed to scholarship, sisterhood, service, and social action,” serving communities across northeastern Wake County “through educational programs, community partnerships, and initiatives that promote positive and lasting change.”
The chapter marks its 30th anniversary a week later with a Scholarship Gala on Dec. 12, where National Council of Negro Women President Rev. Shavon Arline-Bradley is the featured speaker.
