Brunch

N.C. Museum of Art. In 2026 the museum held a Mother’s Day Brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 10, in the NCMA Cafe in the West Building, with purchase required, according to its calendar for that day. The museum’s park, with its trails and lotus garden, is next door at 2110 Blue Ridge Road.

Events and gift-making

Wow Mom! Gifts for Mother’s Day, Raleigh Parks. Children 5 and older make a set of candles, a paper flower bouquet and a card in a two-hour class at Lake Lynn Community Center, 7921 Ray Road. In 2025 it ran 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 10, the day before Mother’s Day, for $15. Parents can help, but only register if they will take part (2025 class page). We did not find a 2026 listing; check Raleigh Parks in March.

Gift markets and shopping local

  • Farmers markets: flowers, plants and local food make easy gifts. Our farmers markets guide has the State Farmers Market and the neighborhood markets with their days and hours.
  • Midtown Makers Market at North Hills runs on the third Tuesday of each month from April through December, 5 to 7:30 p.m., with local makers and artisans (North Hills). In May 2027 the third Tuesday falls after Mother’s Day.
  • Shop Local Raleigh keeps a directory of independent businesses by category.
