Where it is
The city’s comprehensive plan says the plan area runs along Avent Ferry Road from Western Boulevard to Tryon Road and takes in the Mission Valley Shopping Center and Lake Johnson Park. It covers about 1.2 square miles in the city’s area plan data. The plan responds to residents’ concerns about traffic, pedestrian and bicycle safety and redevelopment pressure, and sets a streetscape design for the road. Its north end meets Western Boulevard, which the Wake County Transit Plan names as the western bus rapid transit route; the plan says land nearest a future station there should be considered for transit overlay zoning.
