Where it is

The city’s comprehensive plan says the Crabtree plan area includes Crabtree Valley Mall and the land within about half a mile of it, about 0.8 square mile in the city’s area plan data. The plan aims for a mixed-use district of offices and medium-density housing, keeps new retail mostly to the mall and two other sites, and asks that hillsides not be graded down for large buildings. It describes the valley as flood-prone, calls for open space along Crabtree Creek and a greenway to Laurel Hills Park, and envisions extending Crabtree Valley Avenue west to Glenwood Avenue and east to the Beltline. A separate Crabtree Valley Transportation Study followed in 2011.
